Radio Raisin:
Radio raisin was a special raisin. His name may in fact give it away! But... But, not in the way you think. My guess is when you hear radio raisin, you believe I speak about an anthropomorphic raisin operating a radio receiver. It's a good guess but like all of these stories, the true tale turns out to be a little stranger. And a little spicier.
This raisin was a very special raisin indeed. You see, he had, growing out from his head, a long, unbreakable antenna. Most other creatures simply believed it to be a stem. One the manufacturing factory missed. He had his origins in a California raisins box. You know the ones. It's there where he was separated from his family.
You see, inside the box, all was darkness, until one day, the box shook up a little and from the crest, a light shone in. Then. . . As soon as the box was opened, it was dropped onto the ground. The family of raisins rushed out of the box, pumping their wee little legs hurriedly, just in time to catch sight of a little human boy running away. Radio raisin was only young himself and was tired. He lay down for a nap. And when he awoke, his family were nowhere to be seen. In fact, there were little raisin footprints heading off in every direction. He missed his family. A wee glistening drop of a tear fell from radio raisins eye as he wondered where they could have gone. Of all, though, he missed his grandmother the most.
Days passed. The little human boy had often returned. He would play with radio raisin. The two grew as friends. Radio raisin started to experience a phenomenal thing. He started hearing voices. These were not any voices. These were voices originating far, far away. He found if he focused his attention enough, he could target a place with his eyes and listen in. Until, one day, radio raisin spotted an apartment building on the horizon. Radio raisin scanned each and every apartment until his waves rested up on the apartment of an elderly human. From this apartment, radio raisin could hear two raisins speaking to each other in the raisin language.
"Wow!" One said.
"I miss my grandson so much. We had to leave so quickly. I do hope he's okay. Even the others, even the others have gone off to bigger and better things. I hope to see him again one day."
Red radio raisin began to weep. "Grandma! Grandma! Here I am! Can you hear me?" Of course she couldn't. But red radio raisin had a plan. For the next couple of days, he worked on building an extension for his antenna. He kept his attention upon this apartment all the following day. And when the apartment owner, the elderly human turned on the television, red radio raisin related this message: "Grandma raisin. Grandma raisin. Can you hear me? It's me! Radio raisin! I miss you. We'll see each other again. I just know it. I'll be looking for you. Until I find you.,"
Radio raisin broadcast the same message for the next few nights. Until one day, Grandma raisin was standing at the opening to the California raisins box with a big smile on her face and a bouquet of flowers in her hands. *I love you, radio raisin."
"I love you, Grandma raisin."
